Lake Monsters The legends of lake monsters have endured. There is something about those dark murky water that stir fears in our reptilian brains. Black Lake has it's share of them, ranging from the "Black Lake Beast" to strange black coloured shark-like fish ascending from it's bottomless depths.
As Black Lake's depths touch upon different realms who knows what might emerge? Writers are welcome to conjure what they will, so long as the creature compliments the setting. An undead amphibious bear? Why not? Just remember that capturing it won't be an option and it will usually melt away after it's destroyed. The world still isn't ready for living proof.
A creature that does turn up in the lake from time to time is the Michipeshu, the "Underneath Panther". Something like a cross between a cougar and a dragon, living in deep water and causing people to drown. These strange amphibious creatures are roughly the size and shape of a mountain line, but covered in scales. They are vicious predators and extremely strong for their size. They prey upon unsuspecting boaters at night and are commonly mistaken for seals. The human mind not understanding or denying what it's seeing commonly turns these creature into a seal or a large fish. In truth they look like nothing of the kind, their reptilian heads are extremely jagged and skull-like, their tiny eyes hidden in the depths of their sockets. They are a hideous sight to behold.
