Golems
Golems are lifeless simulacra infused with semi-consciousness to do the bidding of a person, force, or unconscious desire. They are consciously designed or manifestations that produce a tulpa. However they come to be, the process is a lengthy one, usually taking at least a year.
They can be made out of anything that holds a physical form, thus there are no water or fire golems (which would be considered elementals). Golems are commonly made of clay, and whatever they are comprised of will adopt the pliability of flesh and muscle while retaining the physical density and properties of what they are constructed. They are incredibly strong and feel nothing.
There are essentially two types of golem, living and not-living. Most golems are constructed out of non-living matter, but they can also be made of living matter such as flesh and plants. Those made of living matter are naturally less durable, but in the case of one constructed of plants, can develop such things as poisonous thorns, or even go to seed and produce others of it's kind. A flesh golem is not Frankenstein's monster, they have no consciousness, nor the potential for it. They are technically undead, not unlike a zombie, but what makes them different is their strength, speed and the capability to be programmed with explicit instructions from the one who controls them.
When without purpose the golem goes dormant, standing or sitting like a lifeless statue. They will not protect or defend themselves unless instructed to do so, but there are some which are more active and those are the tulpa. These golems come to be from the unconscious desires of one or more people, basically willed into existence. These golems, which are in a sense masterless, will simply follow the emotions and thoughts that made them and respond to violence against them with equal violence.
To destroy a golem, they literally have to be dismantled and pulverized, which for some, like an iron golem will be extremely difficult.
As a rule, golems cannot be 'mass produced' and once a person expends their time and energy creating one, they cannot do so again for years.
