Shadows
Shadow beings have been around for hundreds of years. They are preternatural creatures of a demonic origin that appear as shadowy silhouettes, with eerie bright eyes. They are akin to ghostly apparitions, entities that exist between realms, and come in a variety of forms, ranging from people to animals.
Shadows are attracted to "Gloams" and dark moods, they feed off of despair, depression and hate, and live to stimulate it. Theses creatures manifest in the shape of the beings they feed off of, and retain that form, until their destruction. They are non-corporeal and while their form does have three dimensions, they also appear two dimensional, moving across flat surfaces just as if they were actual shadows.
There is no physical way to fight a shadow, but they are more than capable of utilizing psychokinetic force to hurl projectiles and even lift and throw people. Bestial shadows can even claw and bite. The only way to defend one's self is with a strong believe in an empowered talisman. It can be religious or magical, it's all the same. This will keep a shadow at bay, but it won't get rid of it. Shadows must be exorcised through religious or magical ritual, but there is a second way of destroying them. All shadows are empowered by a token of the lives they took or tortured to give them their original forms. The token can be a tooth, a nail, a lock of hair, a possession. This fragment is carried with them, but once they invest time in a particular area and latch onto a victim, the token manifests into the physical , hidden somewhere close to their target. Sometimes it's under the floorboards beneath their bed, possibly the attic, it can be anywhere within proximity of where their victim commonly frequents. If a person were to find this token and destroy it, they instantly kill the shadow.
