ARCHAICS
Archaics is a term used to define a broad range of factions and groups that believe in returning the world to it's natural state and free-reign of the Faerie-folk. The reality of course, is that Faerie are chaotic beings at best, and their rule while more aligned with the natural world would probably not be any more orderly or safer. Of course, opinions vary. People who subscribe to the beliefs of this faction, like any other, express their beliefs at various levels. Most practice the 'old ways'. These are 'Wiccans' and the like who have adopted pagan practices, usually coming across as extremely flaky individuals, but in Omensvale their rituals actually yield some feedback. This glimpse into the preternatural world reinforces the religion and encourages people to truly believe, and that belief provides empowerment to the Faerie.
Archaics that exist on the fringe of the preternatural realm are harmless, it's the extremists that stir up trouble. These are beings that could be Faerie in nature or regular Humans that have touched upon magic, whatever their origin, they believe in re-establishing the world order by giving rise the old gods and Faerie realm. Their belief and practice starts to bring into being the dark world of Faerie, not the romanticized version, putting innocent people at risk. They are perhaps one of the greatest growing concerns of ICOR and Preternaturals in general as they threaten the balance as they seek to expose the unnatural world and lay waste to Human civilization.
In Omensvale, Archaic-Extremists are dealt with harshly and swiftly, and moderates in the community are kept in check through subtle forms of regulation that prevent them from congregating and organizing.
On the other side of the scale, there are Archaics that know to keep the preternatural secret, and carefully practice their ways in a discreet fashion in an effort to slowly change the world. Many characters fit into this category, keeping the unnatural world hidden while ever so slightly feeding it so that it continues to grow.
