FAERIE
After the Gloam an influx of Faerie entered the world from other realms. We refer to these Faerie as the LESSER, and we do not allow them to portrayed as characters. They remain hidden away, their interactions with people rare. They are also often the antagonists of hour setting when they take the form of Goblins, and other malevolent creatures whose only desire is to cause mayhem and destruction.
The GREATER Faerie are those humans that have for whatever reason been transformed. They have, for the most part, retained their appearance, although in some cases their physical form could have been altered to appear as someone else. This is open to the writer, as we do not want to impose too many rules where this flexible species is concerned. You may produce whatever type of Faerie you wish, they can be based on actual lore, or an embellishment of the myths. We simply always stress to balance your character otherwise you'll quickly run out of things to write about. Always bear in mind that your Faerie must retain a Human appearance if they are to exist in our setting and interact with other characters.
While Faerie vary greatly in their appearance and ability, they are all magical entities born into the world fully formed, they have no childhood. One could say that they reside upon the edge of slumber, clothed in dreams or nightmares, some kindly, others malicious, but such is the mind of a child and Faerie of the 'lesser kind' rarely develop adult wisdom. As Faerie never truly age, neither do their minds or their ideas. Many are perpetually child-like, innocent and gentle or hateful and cruel. They're concept of time is skewed, often surprised when mortals pass on, as they simply expect nothing to change. Change is extremely difficult for Faerie. Time changes, they do not. They have no curiosity of the future, they fear it more than any mortal ever could, wanting nothing more than for the world to remain the same.
Faerie magic is reliant on their own mana and the power of the natural world. Human emotion holds great power for Faerie magic. The desires of men, women and children are often the source of many a "Faerie Tale". Their powers of are dampened by iron. Damage from iron prevents them from healing and weakens them to the point that they can die.
We do not adhere to any one particular lore, and so terms of Seelie and Unseelie are not commonly recognized.
FAEIRE MAGIC & IRON
Faerie magic is reliant on their own mana and the power of the natural world. Human emotion holds great power for Faerie magic. The desires of men, women and children are often the source of many a "Faerie Tale".
Undeniably humanity's use of iron and steel to craft their world was a definite factor in the death of magic and the elimination of Faeire kind. Their powers of are dampened by iron. Damage from iron prevents them from healing and weakens them to the point that they can die. This is the way it used it to be, but now after the Gloaming, Faerie magic is not hindered by iron or steel, it's only weakened by the same factors that affect all magic.
Iron and steel based alloys will damage a Faerie just like they would any other creature. They have no supernatural or magical defences against it, but any other type of metal, like copper or silver, or other materials like wood or plastic can be fended off Faerie magic. They will heal very quickly or depending on their nature, might not even be harmed by certain minerals.
Such as glass...
GLASS
All Faerie can pass through glass. It's not instantaneous, they can push through it without shattering it. All their close fitting possessions will pass through as well. The process can be likened to a person pushing through a barrier of gelatine. The glass offers some resistance and the Faerie has to push through slowly. If they go too fast, the glass remains solid to them.
