DEMONS
Demons came to exist upon Earth via the Gloaming by either possessing a Human or more rare, physical manifestation. The latter method is an embodied Demon, everything intact which means if they're killed, they die. Disembodied demons which inhabit vessels can only be destroyed via exorcism. In either case, the Demon does not recall much of it's life prior, rather they have either inherited the knowledge of their vessel, or during their manifestation gathered working knowledge of the world through some means.
Demons are inherently evil, thus a possessed person of a good nature will be conflicted. This is absolutely NOTHING like a having a split personality. So often this is the 'go-to move' of people depicting a duality of nature or inner conflict. The reality is, that person is experiencing a psychotic break. As the demonic spirit seeps deeper into their mind, the person's personality is slowly being corrupted.
Powers will very, as always, we just ask to ensure your character is balanced. All Demons, though, have inherent cravings for fear and immorality. In the presence of it their power increases and they are dominated by an overwhelming desire to create more unrest and havoc. They are always stronger than Humans, and more resilient, often able to heal wounds naturally that would otherwise require medical treatment.
DEMONS LIE! They cannot tell the truth. It is their nature to deceive, and for them to give an honest answer there must be bargain struck, something gained, or a bond formed forcing them to speak the truth. This is not some 'tick' they are aware of and can't control. They DO NOT want to tell the truth. No matter what's at stake, being able to lie will trump all reason.
More so than any other preternatural creature, Demons are affected by religious belief. They are highly susceptible to religious symbology, and cannot set foot inside any form of church that praises morality; however, one does have to account for the morals of the congregation. A church with unfaithful members will taint it's sanctity and make it susceptible to demonic corruption. Holy water burns a Demon, but only when they are utilizing their abilities. Throwing holy water on a demon in a crowd of people looking on will not yield the desired result because their belief and will is neutralizing the powers of the demon.
