BLACK LAKE LIGHTHOUSE
Located on Hemlock Island, the Black Lake Lighthouse has stood since 1878. When Gabriel Gallagher took his wife, a Munsee woman to the coast where he grew up she was intrigued with lighthouses. She absolutely loved the sea, but they faced prejudices and could not stay. When they returned back to Omensvale he built her a lighthouse to remind his love of the ocean. Upon it's completion, his children grew ill and could not be saved. A few years later, his wife succumbed to same strange illness. Gallagher blamed the lighthouse. Drunk and distraught he went out to burn it to the ground, but that night a storm raged and in the morning, Gallagher's broken body was found on the rocks at the base of the lighthouse. He had apparently jumped to his death.
Ten years later, Benjamin Richter, the lighthouse operator who would turn on the beacon as a novelty was found at it's base, his body smashed on the rocks. People swore he was in the precise same position as Gallagher. After that the lighthouse was abandoned, and it wasn't until 1958, that the village of Laketown decided to renovate it. They fixed it up and it shone bright for twenty years until after one stormy night, the body of teenage boy, a local named Jimmy Hillock, was found dead at the base of the lighthouse. The investigation said it was suicide, and once more the lighthouse darkened.
In 1995 the lighthouse was re-opened yet again, and has remained operational with no incidents. It's a favoured tourist attraction. Beside the lighthouse there's a counter-service restaurant called "THE PINE CONE", a 'greasy-spoon' where people can get burgers, fries and ice cream. Kids venture there after dark and tell ghost stories, daring each other to run around the lighthouse twelve times at midnight. Of course, the lighthouse is not without it's ghosts. People who tend it swear that on stormy nights they've seen the three people who have died there, staring out toward the dark waters of the lake.
HIGH STRANGENESS
Preternatural beings are going to stimulate the paranormal activity of the lighthouse during those times when human presence is at it's lowest which is usually at night. The lighthouse exists upon a permanent 'hot-spot' which is why it became permeated with a demonic presence that uses the ghosts of it's victims to move about in that supernatural realm between the physical and non-corporeal. The otherworldly intelligence is purely evil. It's semi-conscious so communication is not possible. Preternatural beings will commonly be the victim of it's malevolency, it's prior victims all people possessed of latent psychic abilities that allowed the demon to influence them.
The only way to eliminate the demon would be to destroy the lighthouse and that's not an option.
