INCORPORATING MONSTERS
All preternatural monsters in the world are elusive, unable to be recorded or photographed, and transform into a common animal after their demise, or they may vanish completely. The point is, there's never any proof left behind. Nothing one can provide to 'spill-the-beans'. The preternatural world produced by The Gloaming, is still very young and all the 'Natural Creatures' are still trying to wrap their minds around their presence in their reality. It's basically a battle of will, and currently the 'natural-side' has the upper hand.
Simply remember, that when you're writing monster encounters that their power and in many cases their manifestation into the physical realm is reliant on an influx of magic and very few 'natural' witnesses, which will weaken them. For this reason, just about all encounters are going to occur in secluded areas, at times when there are the fewest people, which is often at night. An exception to this, are those cases where the existence of a preternatural monster is being fuelled and stimulated by belief which can stem from preternatural living in human society or natural humans knowingly or unknowingly dabbling in paranormal phenomena and the occult. An example of this would be children messing with a Ouija Board and summoning a demon or conjuring some kind of malevolent forest spirit that takes the form of a smoke monster. There may require more effort than just defeating the monster. As the phenomena of magic grows stronger, regular people are unconsciously tapping into it.
You will not that some of the monsters are merely nuisances, this is because they're only meant to add some spice to a story, not be the story.
